Rescue teams in Union County say there were a lot of successful rescues this weekend, but the loss of a one-year-old boy along Highway 218 is sticking with them.
The road remains closed with these barricades until further notice because it’s so heavily damaged. FOX 46 was told the barricades were up Sunday night when the rescue took place, but right now, Highway Patrol is investigating to see if someone may have moved these before the mother and her one-year-old child drove through.
“This is pretty unbelievable what all has happened,” Union County Sheriff Tony Underwood said.
Sheriff Underwood was given the tough task of notifying a mother desperate for news about her missing son, Kaiden, that he was found dead.
