A volunteer fire department is relying on an annual auction held in Jones County to help them get back on their feet. The Trenton Volunteer Fire Department was flooded with several feet of water during Hurricane Florence. Despite several months passing since the storm hit Eastern North Carolina, many communities in the area are still recovering. Trenton is no different. Despite setbacks, the fire station is looking ahead to the future. They can't do that without the community's help. The group is using the Trenton Volunteer Fire Department's 47th Annual Farm Equipment and General Auction as a launching pad for rebuilding. "This year is extremely important to have success to help us recover from the equipment loss and damages we sustained," said Volunteer Firefighter Jared Beverage. Everything starts at the Jones County Fairgrounds in Trenton on Saturday at 8:30 a.m. You can bring items to sell on Thursday and Friday.
