Fire and rescue professionals from all over the country are training in Eastern Carolina this week.
Greenville Fire and Rescue is hosting nearly 30 first responders from as far away as California and Tennessee as they prepare to seek accreditation for their agencies.
The Center for Public Safety Excellence chose to present the workshop in Greenville as the Fire and Rescue Department nears the end of their 3 year accrediting process, which wraps up this March.
Less than 300 agencies worldwide have completed the achievement and this workshop prepares participants for the lengthy and challenging process. Greenville Fire Chief Eric Griffin says hosting the training is great for employees and the city as a whole.
Griffin said, "They are able to learn from other people that are visiting from throughout the country as I said. So they get to learn, share different ideas, and also, other people will see Greenville and go back and talk about the great things Greenville is doing."
