A person was taken into custody following a SWAT situation Thursday evening in connection to an attempted arson that took place in east Charlotte last month.
On December 22, 2018 at approximately 11:39 a.m., officers with the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department along with the Charlotte Fire Department responded to Chantilly Corner Studios located at 2644 Shenandoah Avenue in response to a 911 call regarding an arson attempt.
No one was injured and the business received only minor damage from the arson. The investigation revealed that the incident actually occurred the night before. Police say while various materials were used by the suspect in this arson attempt, no high explosives were used in this incident. Accelerants were used in the crime and evidence was collected.
On Jan. 17, 2019, investigators served a search warrant at 808 Cone Avenue, Pineville, NC. The suspect was located and arrested by the CMPD SWAT Team without incident, police said.
