A grassfire that happened 15 miles north of Birdwood burned roughly 125 acres of grassland Thursday evening. Hershey Volunteer Fire Department Chief Toby Tobiasson said multiple units responded around 6:30 p.m. Sutherland, Hershey, and McPherson County responded, and Paxton, Wallace, and North Platte Fire were called for mutual aid. Tobiasson said it did not take long to extinguish the fire thanks to the help of local ranchers in the area.
