Fire Chief Al Weberg was recently recognized for 50 years of service to the Bennington Volunteer Fire and Rescue Department. Serving as a volunteer has been a tradition for the Weberg family, with Chief Weberg’s father, Lars Weberg, dedicating years to the Department, as well. While he has served on the Bennington Fire and Rescue Department for five decades, Chief Weberg was also a battalion chief for the Omaha Fire Department for 29 years. His own brother was captain of the Omaha Fire Department in a career that spanned 30 years. In addition, Chief Weberg’s nephew currently serves as a captain for the Omaha Fire Department.
