VIDEO: The Bellevue Fire Department says their budget for 2018-2019 is not enough, and the shortfall could impact fire and EMS services to the community. A press conference was held on Thursday to inform the community about the budget and the possible effects in an effort to get people involved. Unions fear job cuts could be coming. According to a firefighter union spokesman, the City of Bellevue received two $4 million grants to hire 24 firefighters. The $7 million budget the city is proposing could put them in default with the grant. The spokesperson said that if that happens, it could end their current funding. A spokesperson with the fire department said the budget could also eliminate up to 30 Bellevue firefighter jobs.
