A person was seriously hurt on Wednesday when an Omaha Fire Department SUV en route to a fire collided with a sedan. The injured person, whose name wasn’t available, was in the sedan. The person was taken to Creighton University Medical Center-University Campus. The battalion chief in the SUV was taken to the Nebraska Medical Center, but was doing well, Assistant Fire Chief Kathy Bossman said. The red Fire Department SUV had its lights and sirens on, Bossman said. The crash occurred near 33rd and Seward Streets, two blocks from the fire. The Police Department will investigate the crash, she said.
