A 28-year-old Lincoln man drowned in Pawnee Lake on Sunday after falling off a floating device near the swimming beach, Malcolm Fire Chief Jim Densberger said. The man, identified as Christian Montoya, had been in the lake with his 2-year-old son when they fell into the water on the east side of the lake just before 3 p.m. The boy was safely pulled from the water shortly after the incident and was taken to an area hospital in good condition. Witnesses said Montoya had difficulty getting the boy to shore and another person on a personal watercraft picked the boy up and took him to shore. When the person returned to get Montoya, he had disappeared. Stephanie Fisher was nearby when she heard a woman screaming for help.
