The Omaha Fire Department confirms lightening caused the fire near 165th Street and Ames Avenue Tuesday morning. Crews arrived around 8:30 a.m. to the scene. One firefighter was injured while standing outside the home. Officials said he was taken to the hospital but is in stable condition. Neighbors said they heard a loud crack of lightening during the Tuesday morning storms just before the fire started. One neighbor said it shook his house. Authorities said the home was unoccupied at the time, other than a dog, who was killed in the fire.
