PHOTOS - Thirty-four first-graders in Abby Benson’s and LeiShel Soule’s classes visited the Scottsbluff Fire Department on Friday where they learned about fire safety, tested out the fire hose and sat in the fire truck. The students discussed when to call 911 and what they should do when the fire alarms go off. Firefighter Jess Lauruhn set off a fire alarm for the students to hear the sound. Once the siren went off, Lauruhn asked the students if they had discussed with their parents where to meet for a fire. The students brainstormed good meeting places like the backyard or front yard, or a neighbor’s house when they evacuate for a fire.
