A fire broke out on the third floor of an apartment building Sunday evening. Lincoln Fire and Rescue was dispatched to an apartment complex on Washington street near south 9th and "A" street. Within minutes, firefighters had water on the flames, and the fire was out after 12 minutes. Fortunately, no one was home at the time of the fire. "We were dispatched here just after 5 pm for a report of black smoke coming from the building. On arrival we found black smoke coming from an apartment on the third floor of a six unit apartment building," said On-Duty Battalion Chief Jeremy Gegg. The apartment complex was evacuated. Fortunately, no one was injured, including fire fighters.
