Fire departments from three counties have been holding a watering drill at Voorhees High School to help prepare new sod on the school’s football field.
The school’s Athletic Director, Brian Baumann, reached out to Lebanon Township Volunteer Fire Department for help with watering the new sod recently installed on the football field, according to Deputy Fire Chief Robert Pek. The drill has was first held on Aug. 9 and 11 and again on Monday and Wednesday, with six departments attending each evening. The departments arrive around 6:30 p.m. and are on site for about two hours. One more drill takes place this week, on Friday.
These drills are important as fire companies often work together at mutual aid calls.
This summer the North Hunterdon Mutual Aid Group, made up of five departments, debuted its Staffed Squad and Engine Program to help ensure quick response times and adequate.
