Firefighters battled an early-Thursday morning blaze that erupted inside the walls of a 140-year-old home on Cedar Street.
The family inside evacuated and there were no injuries, but putting out the fire wasn't easy, according to the Tuckerton Fire Department.
Residents said they detected odd odors around 11 p.m. Wednesday, according to a social media post on the Tuckerton Fire Department's Facebook page. Sometime after 3 a.m., one person woke up to a bad smell and tried to turn a light on, but there was no electricity. Firefighters were rotated in and out while they pulled apart plaster walls, ceilings and other contents in the house to get to the electrical fire inside the walls, the department said. The home had an addition and several void spaces.
