Video released Monday shows a police officer climb a second-floor balcony to reach two young children and their grandparents who were trapped by a fast-moving fire.
Officers rushed to the inferno at a townhouse on Albury Way in North Brunswick late Saturday and started to evacuate the building when they spotted the family members stranded on a balcony.
“The front door area, the only other means of escape, was blocked by fire,” said Capt. Brian Hoiberg.
North Brunswick Police Officer Joseph Grasso scaled the balcony to reach the second floor, dropped down a 4-year-old girl and a baby to officers below. Grasso then lowered the two adults.
