Two people trapped on the roof of a burning house in Orange were rescued during an overnight fire that injured a firefighter, officials said. The firefighter was brought to St. Barnabas Medical Center in Livingston with minor burns, city spokesman Keith Royster said. The extent of the injures to one of the people freed from the roof of the home on the unit block of Hillyer Street are not known. The fire went to two alarms after breaking out around 3 a.m. Thursday. Firefighters from Irvington, Montclair, West Orange assisted. Video from the scene shows massive flames shooting out of the top level of the home. The cause of the fire is under investigation.
