Voters have passed the ballot question in the special election for the township's Fire District No. 1, allowing the fire district to purchase four new vehicles for $211,000.
The question was passed on Dec. 4 by a vote of 206 to 193, according to the clerk for Woodbridge Fire District No. 1.
One township resident, however, is not fully convinced the votes are accurate
Tom Maras, who has previously ran for the township board of education candidate unsuccessfully, opposed the plans to purchase the vehicles Woodbridge Fire District No. 1. After the results of the vote were were announced, Maras said he is exploring the possibility to petition the court for a recount.
"I am exploring the possibility within the time limits set by state statutes as to challenging this election result in the courts," Maras said. "I was not for the yea votes, I was against it because I thought it was an unwarranted expense, I still do, and again, I look forward to being able to challenge that expenditure when in February they have to stand for a ballot again on their budgets."
