Driver in 2017 crash that killed Jersey City firefighter arraigned for aggravated manslaughter

The Jersey City man at the wheel of a car in a head-on collision that claimed the life of a Jersey City firefighter in 2017 was arraigned on the charge of aggravated manslaughter Monday morning. The grand jury also indicted Stephen A. Zadroga, 27, on the charges of death by auto and three counts of aggravated assault regarding other vehicle passengers, Hudson County Assistant Prosecutor Leonardo Rinaldi said at the arraignment in the Hudson County Administration Building in Jersey City. Jersey City Firefighter Matthew Nierstedt, 29, died as a result of the Nov. 16 crash on Paterson Plank Road in Jersey City.
