A beachgoer from England was rushed to the hospital Monday afternoon after she was impaled by an aluminum umbrella in Seaside Heights.
Officers were called to the Hiering Avenue beach at 4:30 p.m. and found a 67-year-old woman from London, England, with a piece of an umbrella that had been driven straight through her right ankle by strong winds, according to Seaside Heights Police Det. Steve Korman.
Seaside Heights Assistant Fire Chief William Rumbolo cut the metal portion that had punctured her ankle from the rest of the umbrella, Korman wrote in a statement.
