A fire Tuesday damaged the Cabin City Motel, forced the evacuation of residents and killed a cat, according to the owner. No one was injured, but a resident’s cat died in the fire, said Tim Lee, owner of the motel in the 700 block of Route 9 in the Erma section of the township. Erma Volunteer Fire Company Chief Dave Lepor said a firefighter also was taken to the hospital with a blood pressure issue. The fire began just before 9 a.m. and was under control 45 minutes later, witnesses said. Rooms 8 and 9 of the motel were fully engulfed in flames with heavy smoke showing, Lower Township police said. Lee, who was on the scene, provided the officers the name of the tenant of Room 8, where the fire started.
