Four vehicles erupted in flames in the parking lot of the Southern Ocean Medical Center Health Village in the Manahawkin section of the township Wednesday afternoon, authorities said. Township police arrived in the parking lot shortly after 2 p.m. after receiving a report of a vehicle fire. Officers found four vehicles "engulfed in flames" in the parking lot next to the main entrance of the building, according to a news release from Stafford Police Lt. James Vaughn. The fires were quickly extinguished by firefighters from Stafford and Barnegat. Stafford Township EMS also responded to the fire. No one was injured in the incident and the damaged vehicles were later taken out of the lot, Vaughn wrote. The Stafford Township Bureau of Fire Prevention is investigating the blaze.
