An overnight fire gutted an unoccupied Maple Drive home whose elderly owners are both in nursing homes.
The blaze at 7 Maple Drive home owned by Dominick Esposito and his wife, was reported around 12:30 a.m. Sunday.
Neighbors said the couple, whose children live in Hawaii and Minnesota, are living in nursing homes. A retired Randolph fire chief, who couldn't immediately be reached, occasionally would mow the lawn at the house, neighbors said. Police officers Sunday morning were stationed by the vinyl-sided and cedar one-story home that bore extensive fire damage on one side. The charred front door lay on the lawn, near a burned rocking chair on which sat a Raggedy Ann doll.
