Traffic was jammed Tuesday morning on Route 78 in Union County. It was, after all, rush hour in New Jersey and commuters know the drill all too well.
But Anuj and Vandhana Desai were running out of time. Vendhana was in labor what should have been an hour drive from Hoboken to Morristown Memorial Hospital suddenly came to stop.
Anuj Desai pulled onto the shoulder of Route 78 and called 911. Police arrived and started to escort the couple through the traffic, but their soon-to-be newborn daughter had other plans.
"As soon as we were in the right lane starting to go, my wife said 'it's coming now,' and we were back on the shoulder of the road," Desai said.
