A transformer "issue" and fire caused residents in a Midtown neighborhood to lose power in separate incidents this weekend, officials said.
The first issue was reported at about 2:40 p.m. at 32nd Street and Prospect Avenue on Saturday, Bayonne Fire Chief Keith Weaver said. Power was restored in under three hours.
Less than 24 hours later, a transformer caught fire on 31st Street and Avenue C at about 8:45 a.m. The fire was extinguished and PSE&G restored power within about two hours, the chief said.
The incidents do not appear to be related.
Residents in Jersey City also experienced power outages Sunday morning. Mayor Steve Fulop said on Twitter a transformer fire near Sip and Garrison avenues was to blame for power outages near Journal Square and McGinley Square.
