The log cabin on a heavily traveled road through the Pine Barrens was once a perfect setting for a rustic restaurant.
But early Thursday morning, the Magnolia Road building was a challenge for firefighters who battled flames and smoke through the two-story wooden structure, according to scanner reports.
The vacant building, located across from the Batona Trailhead in the Pine Barrens, was formerly Anapa's Restaurant.
Firefighters responded to the scene just before 5:45 a.m. and the blaze was brought under control in about an hour.
Magnolia Road remains shut down from the 4-mile circle to Ongs Hat Road in Southampton, according to the Pemberton Township Volunteer Fire Department.
