Middletown firefighters rescued two children who became stuck after they climbed 30 feet up a tree Sunday morning by the Village school. These are dramatic photos from the scene. At 9:51 a.m. on Sunday, September 23 the Middletown Township volunteer fire department was dispatched to remove children stuck in a tree in the Old Village section of the Township. Upon arrival, Second Assistant Chief John Freidman reported two children approximately thirty feet up in a tree. A police officer, Middletown patrolman Thomas Hughes had climbed up into the tree to help keep the children as calm as firefighters worked to safely remove them. Firefighters cleared branches on the tree to allow the tower ladder bucket to safely remove both children.
