A Hamilton woman was taken to the hospital Monday afternoon after her vehicle collided with a fire engine in Hamilton, police said. Adade Blanc-Alexandre, 36, was traveling southbound on Whitehorse-Mercerville Road near Justice Samuel Alito Jr Way when her car and an engine from Hamilton’s Fire District 8 collided, police said. The fire apparatus, known as Engine 18, was responding to an emergency, police said. Police did not immediately give the direction Engine 18 was traveling in. Photos show Engine 18 with front-end damage and Blanc-Alexandre’s vehicle with damage to the rear. Blanc-Alexandre was taken to Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital for treatment. No other injures were reported by police. Engine 18 is also operated by the Colonial Volunteer Fire Co. when not staffed by Fire District 8 career district firefighters.
