A South Jersey fireman was hospitalized and remains in intensive care after he was seriously injured in a motor vehicle crash while returning from a fire response last week, officials said.
The Tuckahoe Volunteer Fire Company fireman was dispatched to a chimney fire on Feb. 3 at around 7 p.m. in Corbin City, alongside units from Marmora and Seaville; the fire was extinguished after around 45 minutes, Chief Edward J. Carter Sr. and members of the Tuckahoe Volunteer Fire Company said in a statement.
At around 7:50 p.m., while returning to the fire station, members of the Tuckahoe fire company were involved in a crash on the 200 block of Route 50 in Corbin City. “Crews found a vehicle crash involving a member of Tuckahoe fire, who was also returning to station, had an apparent severe medical event that resulted in the crash,” officials said.
