PHOTO: A wildfire in Wharton State Forest in Hammonton that reached 510 acres has reached 100% containment as of 8 a.m. Thursday, according to New Jersey Forest Fire Service. The fire was first spotted Wednesday around 9 a.m. in the area of Jackson Road and burned in both Waterford Township in Camden County and Shamong Township in Burlington County. No injuries were reported, and no structures were threatened by the wildfire. The Forest Fire Service says staff will remain on scene and continue to monitor control lines and address areas of concern until significant precipitation occurs to ensure public safety. The public is advised that smoke may be visible for an extended period while firefighters work to mop-up the wildfire.
