A local business already known for its support of the community recently donated a drone for use by Bayonne public safety officials.
Said to be the most technologically advanced model, the drone, donated by Bayonne Energy in conjunction with the Guardian Foundation, has the ability to use thermal imaging to see “heat signatures” at night for people who would not be visible to the naked eye.
The drone also has an extremely powerful zoom camera, which gives the operator(s) the view of a scene without having to fly the drone too close to a dangerous situation. Another feature allows the “livestream” of drone footage to police, fire, and EMS personnel directly to their smartphones.
Officials from Bayonne Energy recently visited city Hall where Mayor Davis who thanked them for the donation and got a demonstration of the new vehicle.
