A parent recently found a suspicious post on Instagram saying there would be a shooter on campus at Espanola Valley High School, and the investigation into the threat continued Wednesday.
The threat caused a shelter-in-place at the school Tuesday, and students were forced to stay inside as police investigated the possibility of a mass shooting. Parents were allowed to get their kids.
The investigation continued Wednesday, and as a result the high school was closed.
The post in question read, “Arthur’s gonna shoot up school rip guys (sic).” A student at McCurdy Charter School is responsible for the post.
Those schools are blocks apart, which is why the shelter-in-place occurred at Espanola Valley.
Police say a threat was written on a bathroom stall at McCurdy, which said people should come to school if they wanted to live.
Police say “Arthur,” whose name was written in the Instagram post, contacted authorities to make a report that his name was being attached to a threat and that he didn't write. McCurdy officials suspended the student who is believed to have written the post.
Authorities have not yet interviewed him or his parents.
Patrols are increased at all area schools as the investigation continues.
