A gas leak at a westside Walmart lead to the brief evacuation of about 1,000 customers and employees Tuesday afternoon, according to a spokeswoman for the Albuquerque Fire Department. Melissa Romero said the leak occurred when a two inch line was struck during a digging project at the southwest corner of the Walmart on 2550 Coors NW. Firefighters and personnel from the gas company arrived at the scene shortly before 3 p.m. “NM Gas responded quickly and clamped the line,” she said. “All employees and customers have been allowed back in the building.”
