A wildfire in the Carson National Forest south of Taos grew to 30 acres by Wednesday afternoon, and there was no containment of the fire.
The MgGaffey Fire started Monday and was ignited by lightning, according to a U.S. Forest Service news release. It’s located in McGaffey Canyon about 1½ miles west of Pot Creek and 2½ miles southeast of Llano Quemado, off N.M. 518, and was burning toward the southwest. No structures are threatened.
The Forest Service said that while rains is predicted over the next few days, accompanying wind “will increase fire behavior and smoke production.”
