A wildfire caused by a lightning strike up Miranda Canyon had burned less than half an acre June 22. A puff of smoke from the blaze, burning on Forest Service property, was visible from downtown Taos. Ten members of the Boise Hot Shot crew were on the scene, according to fire management officer Ray Corral. He said fire activity at midday June 22 was “very moderate.” Corral said the fire started the evening of June 21. The fire was located on property that was recently acquired by the Forest Service. Crews were expected to snuff out the blaze. The National Weather Service is predicting scattered and isolated thunderstorms in Taos for the next several days.
