“It would be impossible without them,” said Dustin Middleton, Cibola County’s emergency manager, in regard to volunteer firefighting in the area.
“They don’t receive any kind of stipend. It’s all on their own goodwill,” Middleton emphasized.
County Commission Chairman Walter Jaramillo last month invited all the county’s volunteer firefighters to a commission meeting in order for the elected officials to meet the volunteers and learn more about each department.
Each volunteer fire chief introduced their staffs to the commissioners and provided them a brief history of their department.
Jaramillo said, “Most of you guys we have never met. We just wanted to meet you guys and thank you for your great service.”
