Bernalillo County Fire Chief Chris Celaya will resign at the end of September after a little more than two years.
Celaya has held the position since May 4, 2015.
Celaya plans on returning to El Paso, Texas, to be closer to family, according to a county news release.
He previously worked as a deputy fire chief there.
“The county has a highly regarded fire department and Chief Celaya has contributed to the success of the department,” County Manager Julie Morgas Baca said. “We thank him for his dedicated service.”
