“We will cleanup and rebuild,” said Marie Garcia, co-owner of Mi Casita on Highway 605 just outside of Milan, a wood shed building business that she and her husband, Harry, purchased in 2015.
Marie received the fire call at approximately 12:50 a.m. on Friday. Being that Harry is a state representative, he was in Santa Fe at the time.
“After I got the first call I told my daughter I’d go alone,” Garcia explained. “Then I got another call and was informed that the big building was engulfed in flames. I called my daughter back and told her to go with me.”
Thankfully she did because Marie and her daughter stayed watching the building burn for nearly three hours. After getting sick to her stomach, she left the scene a little after 3 a.m.
