A Santa Fe man is accused of setting his girlfriend’s apartment on fire after an argument. Alex Slaughter, 27, faces arson and other charges following the blaze early Saturday at an apartment on East Coronado Road in the city’s South Capital neighborhood. The girlfriend told Santa Fe police she left the apartment after Slaughter verbally threatened her and threw items against a wall, according to a criminal complaint filed in Santa Fe County Magistrate Court. John Day, Slaughter’s attorney, said his client is pleading not guilty to all charges. Tenants in the apartment building were evacuated without injury, and the fire did not spread to other units, according to the complaint.
