Not all heroes wear capes.
Three Albuquerque boys proved that Monday night after stumbling upon an emergency.
Bronson Vigil, 12; Gabriel Meza, 10; and Richard Rivas, 11, were playing cops and robbers at their apartment complex near Carlisle and Montgomery boulevards.
They were chasing one of their friends through a building when they heard a fire alarm going off.
The three realized the sound from the fire alarm was coming from a nearby building.
“We looked at these buildings and the only one that had smoke and the fire alarm ...going off was this one right here,” Meza said.
When they took a closer look, they saw a lot of smoke filling the apartment.
Albuquerque Fire Rescue plans to honor the boys for their heroic efforts sometime soon.
