Albuquerque firefighters responded to a wild fire near the Bosque School on Sunday night and successfully extinguished it before winds picked up. Lt. Brian Fox, of the wild land team, said multiple people called 911 around 7 p.m. to report smoke near the school south of Móntano on the west side of the Rio Grande. Firefighters arrived to find about half an acre burning. He said firefighters extinguished the blaze before it reached an acre in size. He said crews will spend a couple more hours cleaning up the area and making sure the fire doesn’t pick back up. Concerns were heightened because a cold front is expected to bring high winds to the area, he said.
