A house fire on the south side of Taos Pueblo was extinguished by firefighters within about an hour of it being reported. Taos Volunteer Fire Department answered the call and sent multiple engines to the scene just before noon on Monday (Feb. 19). First responders confirmed the blaze via emergency radio channels, noting "a significant amount of smoke and flames coming out" of the structure. Firefighters used water tankers to control the blaze, according to initial reports via Taos Central Dispatch. It is unknown at this time if the structure is occupied or whether other structures in the area are at risk.
