Construction of the new, west-side Fire Station No. 2, located on Sand Sage Road in Los Lunas, west of Interstate 25, is complete and scheduled to begin operation by mid-July.
Los Lunas Fire Chief John Gabaldon said they’re just waiting for furnishings, such as beds for the bunks, computers and other equipment.
After numerous ups and downs with the build, and working toward adding a second, west-side fire station for years, Gabaldon said he is excited.
“I think everybody is excited, not only us but the community is excited for it,” Gabaldon said. “It’s going to allow us to build on what we currently have and just get better.
