Rio Rancho firefighter Danny Arana has spent years helping others. Now he's the one who needs help.
Arana is currently in a Utah hospital waiting for a heart transplant.
"I wouldn’t wish this on anybody. I can’t do anything," said Danny's mother, Christine Arana said. While he waits, the community is rallying behind him. Monday night, Rock & Brews on Montgomery opened their doors for anyone who wanted to support the family.
"His medical bills will be phenomenal," Christine said. "I've been told the surgery itself is $700,000 plus."
Christine said her son's spirits are high. As a father to six kids with a wife who has been battling cancer, he has a lot to live for.
