A wildfire located north of Clayton now spans three states, and a State Forestry official said its containment improved to 50 percent on Monday.
Crews estimate the Stateline Fire has burned 27,658 total acres including 16,898 acres of private land in northeast New Mexico, New Mexico State Forestry Wildfire Prevention and Communications Coordinator Wendy Mason said in the latest update Monday afternoon.
An additional 10,750 acres have burned in Colorado while 10 acres have burned in Oklahoma.
About 140 firefighters along with aircraft support are working to contain the blaze. The Stateline Fire is not threatening any structures, Mason said.
