Dozens of people and pets were displaced Sunday after a fire was sparked at a southeast Albuquerque apartment building.
Crews responded to 412 Georgia St. around 4:40 p.m., according to officials with the Albuquerque Fire Department.
“They told us it’s inhabitable,” said Daniel Crespin, a resident in the apartment building. “The bedrooms are all gone, everything is soaking. Basically, all of our belongings are going to be gone." Crespin said he was sleeping Sunday when his daughter complained of smelling smoke. He brushed it off until she returned to him a short time later.
“A little bit later my daughter came out and said there was smoke in her room," he said. "So I went to the back door and opened the back door, and everything was engulfed in flames."
