Roswell firefighters honor girl who saved brother from fire

On Feb. 22, a 9-year-old girl lost her home and dog in a fire, but she could have lost more Rosalinda Gallo has a 10-year-old brother who was still inside their burning home when she made it out safely. Gallo didn't want to lose her brother, so she ran back inside and carried him out. She said his hair was on fire so she quickly grabbed a shovel, dug some dirt and dropped it on his head. She remembered her mom telling her brother not to throw dirt on the fire when they would barbecue because it would put out the flames. On Thursday, Gallo received an award from the Roswell Fire Department. The fire crew wanted to honor the hero from Pecos Elementary School, so during an awards ceremony, they surprised Gallo.
