VIDEO: Officials are investing a house fire in Rio Rancho that killed a man.
It was initially reported that the fire was caused by a natural gas explosion, however, officials later determined that was not the case.
According to State Fire Marshal Jeff Hill with the Fire Investigation Bureau, the fire was caused by heat build up which caused pressure resulting in the windows popping.
Police say were called to the house on Second Street and Inca to do a welfare check.
When they arrived at the home, they saw signs of a recent explosion.
Officers then had to wait until it was deemed safe for them to go inside. That's when they found the man's body they were doing a welfare check on.
Police have not yet identified him at this time.
The investigation remains ongoing.
