A man was arrested Tuesday on first degree arson charges after a fire broke out in his northwest Reno condo. Battalion Chief Mike Pilcher said it's not the first time the Reno Fire Department has responded to calls of a fire at that specific condo off Tripp Drive. Fire crews responded to the unit at about 8 a.m. Tuesday morning and were able to quickly knock down the blaze before it could spread to adjacent units. While fire crews were on scene, a witness saw the owner of the condo — whose identity has not yet been released — leaving the area. Pilcher said a Reno Fire Department safety officer then followed the man until he was apprehended by law enforcement. He was then interviewed by a Reno fire prevention investigator and was then arrested for first degree arson.
