A fire that started on the stove damages a downtown apartment kitchen, Thursday. Las Vegas firefighters responded an apartment building at 8:35 a.m. in the 300 block of Maydelle Place near Eastern Avenue and Bonanza Road. Fire dispatchers received several 911 calls advising thick smoke was seen coming from the apartment. When fire crews arrived at the scene, they found the fire in the kitchen and had it extinguished within a few minutes. The fire gutted the kitchen and the rest of the apartment had heat and smoke damage. No other apartments were damaged by the fire. There were no reported injuries.
