The Bureau of Land Management says the Silver State Fire is approximately 1,200 acres and 8% contained.
They say that while several structures are threatened, there has been no loss of structures.
There are 200 plus personnel on the fire, including Single Engine Air Tankers (SEATs) and multiple helicopters. Elko Daily Free Press reports that an off-road vehicle is the cause of the 2,000-acre wildfire burning east of Elko.
The Silver State Fire began shortly before 9 p.m. Saturday near Silver State Rock Products on Last Chance Road. Elko Daily says within an hour, flames were headed toward Elko Mountain, about 5 miles east of town.
Ground crews have been fighting the blaze and an air attack is planned for Sunday morning.
